Not gathering in person brings more than a few challenges. One of them is regular financial offerings. Here are the options we currently have.
Having made the decision to not gather in person for the next while brings many implications. One significant one is that a high majority of our financial offerings are received on Sundays when we do gather for worship. While we are still in "scattered" mode physically, almost all areas of ministry are still operating, and so we need to be mindful of our stewardship in this time.
We also recognize that this whole situation has negatively impacted many people and families. The congregation makes no financial demands on anyone's offerings, and never has. God gives us the freedom to determine how much to offer for the needs of the congregation based on how He has blessed us. He does not expect us to give what we do not have. Hear from God in through the Apostle Paul...
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
—2 Corinthians 9:6-11
As a congregation, we trust that God will provide what we need in this time, and beyond, through the generosity of our members and friends. All of us are encouraged to consider how God has blessed us and to continue to contribute to the work of the church faithfully. Since we can't meet in person right now, below are the options we all have right now (all regular donations with names attached can be credited as tax-deductible donations, just like putting a contribution in the offering plate).
