Dear Concordia Preschool Families,
The health and safety of our students, staff and their families is our highest priority. The global pandemic COVID-19 is moving quickly and its impact on British Columbians is growing. We continue to follow the direction of the public health officials in making fact-based decisions when it comes to our school and preschool. On March 17, the Provincial Health Officer directed all K-12 schools to immediately suspend in-class instruction until further notice. As there was no specific directive given at that time by the Ministry of Education regarding preschools, we met on March 18 with our Preschool Director, Pam Hartmann, to evaluate our options. After careful consideration, the Concordia Lutheran School Operations Team (SOT) has made the decision to temporarily close our preschool as the risk to our students, staff and families outweighs the benefit of keeping our program operational.
Because of the nature of the program, no continuity of learning will be put in place; therefore, April's tuition payments will not be processed. We will re-evaluate the need to remain closed for the month of May, on Monday, April 20.
This is a very challenging time in BC and we appreciate that the temporary closure of our preschool program will have an impact on our preschool families. Please take necessary preventative measures to keep you and your families healthy.
Remember, these measures are temporary. But we must act together and act now to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Please continue to check your e-mail, Preschool Facebook page, and the health and safety page here on our website to stay up-to-date with information on the effects of COVID-19 on Concordia's ministries. We will continue to update using all of these methods as things develop in this fast-moving situation.
We appreciate your support of our preschool program and pray for our staff and families to remain healthy and safe until we can resume gathering in our classrooms again.
